Ones Country - The Spine of our Stories

'Bangarra dance is a triumph' - Herald Sun

This event has now passed.

Following the sold-out season of widely acclaimed production Bennelong, Bangarra returns this summer with a brand new triple bill of diverse works, commissioned and directed by Artistic Director Stephen Page.

ONES COUNTRY - the spine of our stories brings together the choreographic talents of Bangarra dancers Elma Kris & Nicola Sabatino (Whistler); Kaine Sultan-Babij (Place); and Bangarra foundation member and Yolngu songman Djakapurra Munyarryun, in a return to his dancing roots.

Together they will take you on an Australian journey of discovery, unearthing myths and stories from the desert heart of North East Arnhem Land; to the azure salt waters of the Torres Strait Islands; to the heart of Indigenous urban life.

With a creative team featuring Jacob Nash (sets), Jennifer Irwin (costumes) and Matt Cox (lighting), and performed within the immersive, industrial surrounds of Carriageworks in Sydney’s inner west, ONES COUNTRY – the spine of our stories is the new frontier of Australian contemporary dance.
