Illuminating the Wilderness (2018)

Australian debut of a new film by Project Art Works

Illuminating The Wilderness is a new film by Project Art Works conceived and directed by Kate Adams and Tim Corrigan. This work was filmed in a remote corner of Scotland by filmmaker Ben Rivers and Margaret Salmon and follows neurodiverse artists and makers, families and carers as they interact with nature and each other.

Shot from multiple viewpoints, this unscripted film reveals the joys and challenges experienced by this community away from the everyday social, practical and attitudinal barriers they ordinarily face.

The remote Scottish landscape provides a unique canvas for this group to revel in freedom of expression and belonging, making this a tender and humorous journey for participant and viewer alike.

Project Art Works will also be hosting a drawing workshop to complement this film, inviting groups with complex support needs to contribute to a large collaborative and immersive installation. This installation will be on display from Saturday 5 to Monday 7 October in our National Centre for Creative Learning on Level 3.
