Gordi
Melding lush electronics with moody acoustic songwriting into a timbre that is instantly recognisable, Gordi has quickly become one of the most cherished songwriters in Australia.

Australian singer-songwriter Gordi, the musical moniker of Sophie Payten, blends lush electronics with introspective songwriting. Immersing herself with writing music in a Sydney college dorm room, her music career quickly began to show promise, receiving attention after playing independently across Sydney and releasing tracks through Triple J Unearthed. Her debut EP Clever Disguise made waves in 2016, followed by an acclaimed full-length album, Reservoir, in 2017, and an ARIA-nominated album Our Two Skins, in mid-2020. Over her career, she’s worked with the likes of Sam Smith, Fleet Foxes, Ásgier, Bon Iver, Troye Sivan and Alex Lahey. Her work has captivated audiences with its soul-bearing honesty through Gordi's quest of self-discovery, grappling with identity, sexuality and liberation.
Her first single of 2023, Broke Scene, is a dreamy, bass-driven track produced alongside Ethan Gruska (Sky Ferreira, Phoebe Bridgers, Bon Iver) and mixed with Jon Low (Gracie Abrams, The National, Taylor Swift). Inspired by a post-yum cha fever dream (yes, really), Broke Scene asks “can you see, you’re burning your house down?”
