I like movies
Chandler Levack’s hilarious ode to cinephiles and video stores balances a fragile coming-of-age story in the mid-2000s with wicked humour.
This event has passed.
Small-town highschooler and insufferable film lover Lawrence Kweller dreams of attending NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts to become a filmmaker. His ambitions are even more unrealistic when he decides to get a job at his local video store to save for the expensive tuition fees. Lawrence’s film-bro elitism faces a reality check when he starts alienating the most important people in his life, all while developing a complicated friendship with his older manager. Littered with movie references and homages, Levack’s darkly funny, mid-2000s tribute is equal parts nostalgia and cringe, all while maintaining compassion and pathos.
