Project Art Works drawing workshop

Project Art Works drawing workshop

A collaborative intervention led by leading UK arts organisation

This event has now passed

Be part of something bigger when you join facilitators from Project Art Works, the UK’s leading artist-led organisation working with children, young people and adults who have complex support needs, to create a large-scale installation. Starting with a series of huge blank paper banners, this installation will come to life with drawings and paintings made by participants over two days during the Art is for Everyone weekend.

What to expect?

Participants will have the opportunity to view and then respond to the new film Illuminating the Wilderness (2018) by Project Art Works with a hands-on drawing workshop. Just like the film itself, these collaborative workshops aim to illuminate and break down the practical and social barriers faced by neurodiverse people in day to day life.

Who can attend?

This Sunday drop-in session is an opportunity for visitors of all ages to contribute to a growing drawing installation.

No prior experience necessary. Spaces will be limited to 10 participants at any one time.

The final installation will be on display from Saturday 5 to Monday 7 October in the National Centre for Creative Learning on Level 3.

This event is part of the Art is for Everyone weekend, a free two-day celebration of access and inclusion, and is presented in partnership with the The Big Anxiety, Australia’s largest mental health event.

About Illuminating the Wilderness

Illuminating the Wilderness is a new film produced by Project Art Works and was conceived and directed by Kate Adams and Tim Corrigan. It was filmed in a remote corner of Scotland with filmmaker Ben Rivers, Margaret Salmon and neurodiverse artists and makers, families and carers.

The film and drawing installation are being run as part of the EXPLORERS project, a three year program lead by Project Art Works of art and conversation in partnership with cultural organisations across the UK and in Australia.

The EXPLORERS project is supported by the Arts Council Ambition for Excellence Programme and the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.
