In 2023, Sydney Dance Company is delighted to celebrate a decade of New Breed at Carriageworks from 6-16 December.

Leading the next generation of rich choreographic voices, this year’s program will feature world premiere works by Tra Mi Dinh, Beau Dean, Riley Smith, Eliza Cooper and Company dancer Riley Fitzgerald.

Supporting emerging Australian artists and the future of contemporary dance is at the core of Sydney Dance Company's mission. With the unwavering support of The Balnaves Foundation, New Breed has seen 35 emerging dance artists present world premiere works on the Company since its inception ten years ago.

To celebrate this milestone, Sydney Dance Company created a six-part documentary series The Journey of New Breed. Featuring interviews with Artistic Director Rafael Bonachela, Victoria and Hamish Balnaves from The Balnaves Foundation, and past choreographers, learn more about the legacy of New Breed and the positive impact it’s had on the careers of countless artists.
