Three boundary-pushing performances by the next generation of experimental performance makers

This event has now passed.

3x3x2 Festival of New Works premiers three boundary-pushing performances by the next generation of experimental performance makers.

This August, Emily Dash, Christie Woodhouse and Cheryn Frost showcase the culmination of their comprehensive two-year artist residencies at PACT. The residency program has offered each artist mentorship, space for experimentation, a salary, and the freedom to test innovative ideas. Expect excitement, ambition, power, and a whole lot of heart. This is your chance to peer into the future of Sydney’s performance scene – before they are famous!

Writer and actor Emily Dash unveils Freefall, a candid and moving play that asks provocative questions about love and death, and explores the complexities of loving someone who sees the world differently to oneself. Dash said, “Freefall is a story that most people can relate to, told from a fresh and unique perspective. I hope that what we have to say will challenge audiences to think deeply - and expand their perceptions about grief, identity, disability, relationships and sexuality.

Performance artist Christie Woodhouse asks important questions about how we need to prepare as citizens and as a society in BRING YOUR DEVICES IN CASE YOU FORGET. The work explores our fascination with prepping subcultures, skill sharing modulated by tech giants and community formation. Woodhouse said, “Prepping viewpoints are incredibly varied from frugal self-reliance to multimillion dollar bug out bunkers, from militant lone-wolf protectionism to community-based initiatives. What preparation is required as a citizen and as a society? I believe we need more social forums to ask these questions.”

Yuwaalaraay artist Cheryn Frost presents Hydraulic F***ing, a queer political performance examining the destruction of our earth, the environmental impacts from fracking and the mining industry, and the parallels of land and sexual content. Frost said, “Hydraulic Fucking looks at the destruction of Mother Earth at the hands of our government and multi-billion dollar corporations. We’ve screwed her long enough, and she's fighting back. This is for our mother.”

The Risky Stuff: This event is 16+. Some performances contain discussion of mental health, death and grief, suicidal ideation, religious apocalypse, sexual themes, ableism, loud sound effects and bright lights.

Your ticket allows you into all shows on the day the ticket is purchased for.
