Strikers! Youth leading change panel
Meet the next generation of leaders as we hand over the stage to a group of young people hell-bent on climate justice.
Our Australian youth have already identified what many adults have failed to recognise – that the climate crisis is an opportunity to rethink the way the world operates. In collaboration with our MCA Youth Committee and Young Guides, hear why climate change matters to young people, the strategies they use to engage politicians and the biggest barriers for change that we face today.
Presented as a part of Conversation Starters 2019: Temperature Rising, a weekend of art, discussion and action.
A strike for climate
In 2018–19, we have seen over 200 youth-led strikes occur around the globe, including here in Australia. Adding to our history of youth-led strikes, tens of thousands of young Australians across the country have walked out of their classrooms to stage protests demanding action on climate change.
Tired of watching their future sacrificed by a government dominated by climate science deniers, these young people refuse to sit back and let others dictate the future of Earth.
