Culture Up Late opens the museum after hours with a few extras including VR experiences, short and sweet tours, hands-on workshops, live music and performances. Enjoy a mid-week diversion with a bit of a difference! It’s also the perfect opportunity to enjoy the latest exhibitions, during its quieter moments.

Tahitian Dancer: Poemoana Teriinohorai
Be enthralled by one of Tahiti’s premier dancer / choreographer, ‘Poemoana Terrinohorai’ as she performs the Tahitian Ōte’a (fast drum dance) and ‘Aparima (slow dance). -

Kairuku Mekeo Dancers from Papua New Guinea will perform traditional dances from the Mekeo, a Central Province of Papua New Guinea. -
200 Treasures exhibition: Featuring Captain Cook's Hawaiian‘Ahu‘ula
See the ‘kipuka’ or feathered cape that was given to Captain Cook on his third – and fatal – Pacific voyage by Ali’i (chief) Kalani’opu’u, as an official welcome to Hawaii in December 1778 or January 1779. The exhibition also features significant cultural artefacts from West Papua, Fiji, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, Bougainville, Solomon Islands, Cook Islands, Marshall Islands, Aotearoa and Samoa. -
Cultural Dance group: Matavai Pacific Cultural Arts
The award-winning Sydney-based performing arts group takes us on a journey through the Pacific with dances from Samoa, Fiji, Tonga, Cook Islands and Aotearoa. -
Pacific Climate Warriors Activity
350 Pacific Climate Warriors share Pacific stories of the past and how ancient knowldge is being used today to protect and preserve the future of the islands. -

Grab a drink or a snack at the Atrium pop-up bar with the Pacifica sounds of DJ Teezy, Fijian hip-hop soul artist MC Treyand guests as they share some Pacifica classics and their own original music. -
Gallery Tour: Pacific Spirit
Tour the ‘Pacific Spirit’ gallery, exhibiting a selection of rare artefacts including, sacred Malagan masks from Papua New Guinea dating from the 1800s; ceremonial poles from New Ireland; intricately carved door panels from New Zealand; Bird of Paradise head ornaments from the highlands of Papua New Guinea; Kava bowls and drums from Samoa; towering slit drums from Vanuatu; and jewelry from Fiji. -
